Atlas of Color

This studio is quite interesting and I was told much useful knowledge about color. I learned that different combination of color could create different feelings and how to create the effects in terms of contrast, harmony, rhythm and balance which are the four principles in color design. It is quite important to know this knowledge and I think it will benefit me in my future design. Besides that, this studio improved my skill of use water color. The water color is a very useful and convenient way of presenting designs. I have learnt a bit about water color before, but this time I was told other approach of drawing water color which allows me to use water color more freely. Finally, from the final submission of folio, I learned how to compose the graphic in more professional levels.

Fluid thought

The fluid thought is a difficult studio as drawing by charcoal is not familiar to me. However, through this studio I have begun to know the different effect created by charcoal and other drawing pencils. The charcoal is quite easy to have a tone of whole drawing, but it is hard to control, especially when I have to draw some details. What I like to do is emphases on the tone of drawings which could create the sense of solid, light and distance. I think I still need to practice more to be able to use charcoal as an effective tool of presentation.

Model making

Model Making

The Model Making is a very interesting and useful studio as architecture study usually involving models. From this studio, I have learned how to build model with more professional standard, for example, the important of wall sickness and the preciseness of joints. We were encouraged to explore the materials which also improved the performance of model. Finally, I have seen lots of amazing models in the final submission. The models built with partially destroying really impressed me. Furthermore, I have learned some useful techniques, like how to bend balsa wood and other useful tools like balsa strips. Anyway, this studio is really a good experience to me.
